Treble for Vin Cox Bloodstock

Vin Cox Bloodstock had every reason to celebrate after the Warwick Farm meeting in Sydney on Saturday when three of their purchases saluted - Kick ‘n Chase, Yoburg and Test Edition.

The Clarry Conners trained Kick ‘n’ Chase was first to find the winners circle, the Red Ransom (USA) gelding cruising past his rivals in the heavy conditions to win the 1200 metre event by two and a half lengths.

A winner at Rosehill last preparation and a close up fourth in the Group Two QTC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm, Kick ‘n Chase looks set for a good campaign, EI permitting!

Selected and purchased by Vin Cox Bloodstock, Kick ‘n Chase was snaffled from the Widden Stud draft for just $80,000 at the 2006 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and is the second foal of the metropolitan winning Centaine mare Cool Chick (NZ), a full sister to stakes-winner The Big Chill.

Raced by a syndicate of eight delighted owners, Kick ‘n Chase has already recouped $94,150 in prizemoney with two wins and two placings from 10 starts.

In the very next race, lightly raced Johannesburg (USA) gelding Yoburg finished full of running to snare his second win from just four starts.

Trained by Gary Portelli, Yoburg was purchased by Vin Cox Bloodstock for just $40,000 from the draft of Southern Cross Breeders at the 2006 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Raced by a syndicate of half a dozen owners, Yoburg was bred by Ross Warnock of Flame Tree Stud and is the fourth and final foal of the Rory’s Jester mare You Jest, a minor winner whose extended family includes Group One winners Canny, Lad, Canny Lass, Camarena and Camarilla.

Smart four year-old Test Edition brought up the hat-trick when he charged home to beat classy mare Upper Echelon over 1400 metres at his first run back from a spell.

A $52,500 purchase for Vin Cox Bloodstock from the draft of Jay R Stud at the 2005 Inglis Sires’ Produce Sale, Test Edition has won three races and placed three times from 12 starts winning $78,440.

A son of prolific winner getter Testa Rossa, Test Edition is the first foal of former smart metropolitan winner Lili Marlene, by Kaaptive Edition from the family of stakes-winners Reverse Pass and Full Pass.

The treble was very nearly a four-timer with a pair of Vin Cox purchases in Letter of Intent and Cuerdale, failing by less than a length to catch Champagnat in the last event on the card, capping a remarkable day.

Vin Cox is now in Kentucky for the 2007 Keeneland September Yearling Sale and can be contacted vin@vincoxbloodstock.com
